Long Island Auto Show 2008

The Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum will be the venue for the Long Island Auto Show 2008 running from Thursday, October 16 through Sunday, October 19, 2008. Produced by International Automotive Showcase, this show will feature the latest cars, trucks, SUVs, crossovers, and more. Manufacturers and dealers will showcase their new model vehicles, concept cars, specialty vehicles, green cars, and highly customized rides. You will be able to compare the latest fuel-efficient options and learn more about the “green” auto movement. Representatives from leading manufacturers will be onsite to answer questions and provide information on the latest vehicles.

Most of the vehicles will be unlocked so that attendees can sit in them, push buttons, inspect engines, and make comparisons of hundreds of models. You can learn about the newest fuel-saving technologies. Several exciting, all-new or redesigned 2009 model vehicles will be on display including the Acura TL, Chevrolet Traverse, Infiniti FX, Kia Optima, Mercury Mariner, Nissan Maxima, Pontiac Solstice Coupe, and Subaru WRX. There will also be a collection of hybrids including the Cadillac Escalade, Chevrolet Silverado, Lexus GS450h, and Toyota Camry.

The Chevrolet Camaro concept, the most popular concepts of all time, is sure to steal the spotlight at this year’s auto show. Concept cars address the transportation challenges of tomorrow and usually incorporate advanced technology, innovative styling cues, and alternative power sources. They are testing beds for new ideas designed to provoke interest, excite audiences, and create dialogue between consumers and manufacturers.

If you are interested in “green” technology, just follow the green directional arrows to find fuel-efficient and alternative fuel models on the show floor. Learn how to save money at the fuel pump and promote a cleaner environment.

The East Side Customs Choppers display will reveal how to take a bike from concept to reality. Along with a display of customized choppers, they will also showcase the Steve McQueen Memorial Bike. East Side Customs Choppers’ bikes have been featured in top motorcycle magazines including Easy Rider, Hot Bike, and American Iron.

There will be fun for all ages with special appearances, giveaways, feature days, and more. Special features at this year’s auto show will include a special meet and greet session at the Hawaiian Tropic Zone restaurant. Several “Girls of the Zone” will be available to sign autographs and pose for photos.

Two retired New York baseball greats will also make appearances. Attendees can meet former New York Mets’ outfielder George Foster, five-time All-Star and two-time World Series Champion. He was the first player since Willie Mays to hit more than 50 homeruns in one season. Retired New York Yankee outfielder Roy White will also be on hand to sign autographs. White was named to two All-Star teams and played on two World Series championship teams.
