A special feature of this show will be a competition of six student welding finalists from the SkillsUSA Championships 2007 and 2008 competing for three spots in the WorldSkills Competition to be held in Calgary, Alberta in 2009. They will compete by completing standard test weldments, sheet metal projects in aluminum and stainless steel, and a pressure vessel. They will be judged on soundness and appearance as well as written skills and welding code interpretation.
