The 2009 Annual Meeting and Exposition of the Intelligent Transportation Society of America will be held at the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center June 1-3, 2009. It is the place for leading-edge ITS products, services, and solutions for today’s transportation, technology, and security challenges. As Members of Congress and the new Administration move towards the authorization of new federal transportation legislation, this will be a momentous year for transportation policy. The Intelligent Transportation Society of America hopes to provide legislators with evidence and information for a new and revitalized approach to transportation utilizing “smart” technologies to improve the performance and efficiency of our transportation system.
The Keynote address will be given by U.S. Department of Transportation Secretary Ray La Hood. Other highlights of this year’s meeting will include opportunities to meet directly with your members of Congress during “Capitol Hill Day”; opportunities to meet with representatives of the new Administration; live demonstrations of the newest advances in tolling, vehicle mile charging and mobile payments, freight security, intersection safety, infrastructure monitoring, and traffic information.
Topics addressed will include updates on where and how the stimulus money is, and isn’t, being spent. In addition there will be nearly 100 educational, technical, policy, and interactive sessions on topics ranging from transportation financing and congestion reduction strategies to vehicle safety technologies and the role of ITS in reducing energy use and emissions.
